Just as all holy men do not go to heaven so also all those who drink do not untimely die. Have a heart.

I uphold the Apex court decision to limit the sale of liquor to Five star Hotels in one way. Because all cannot afford to go to Five star hotels. But, if you see the Statistics, Kerala's share was 14.9 percent of the total  consumption of Liquor in the country. It means Kerala Alcohol consumers are consuming alcohol  worth Rs,30 crores per day.

Of course health of the consumer takes a big beat. Hence it is necessary Alcoholism has to be should be banned, except for Medical uses in the Country.

Banned of alcohol is not possible. It is banned in Gujrat. But Gujrat alcohol mafia smuggling it from Punjab and Haryana.

Banning Alcohol is not possible in any state. Because it adds revenue to the Government's exchequer.

yes alcohol is not good for health and whatever the court is doing is right for the human begin and it increase the life cycle of human begin also

Alcohol is banned in Gujarat since 1947. But it is liberally available. Supplies come in trains/trucks from Mumbai and Rajasthan among other sources. However there is one noticeable difference. One rarely sees drunk persons on the roads. It is not a custom to offer alcohol to visiting guests, nor is it served openly in marriage receptions and parties. To that extent it is not visible and thus does not act as an attractant for a lot many persons who otherwise may get tempted. But yes those who want to drink will get it at a higher price and risk of being caught is also there. Liqour mafias are controlling the trade with alleged cooperation of law enforcing agencies.  To that extent it is not working.

Everything is a political drama.  There are now 27 five-star bars and 33 licensed clubs where liquor is allowed to serve. In addition, all the bars below 5-star category which were closed were given license to operate as Beer-Wine parlour. As such there are more than 800 beer-wine parlours in Kerala in place of low class bars. Beer and wine are also alcoholic, but with less alcoholic content. Besides, there are more than 300 retail sale outlets with extra sale counters, where liquor is sold to all class and the drunkards need not depend on any black market. So where is the ban? Only the costumes are changed; the actor remains the same.

You are right it is a sham ban. A ban should be uniform and not selective. Could there be a lobby trying to garner the drinkers to itself.

Banning Alcoholism cannot be done as they are the major generators of revenue to the State Governments .In AP and Telangana may be in other states Prohibition is simply an eye wash.

Alcohole, tobacco, opium. arrack, fenny, hashish etc. - all are the products which are injurious to health if they are taken as addiction. People are there to use these in spite of the warnings. The governments know it and permit their sales legally or someone sells them covertly. Earlier, we used to understand that the people used them because they did not know the harms. But still the literate people use them today. Somewhere, alcohole of some branded kind becomes a sign of status too. After use, a poor person thinks himself to have become rich but the consequences have to be faced by the dependents. If the Apex Court has upheld the decision, that is in social interest and that is required to be implemented strictly for social welfare. For this, we may create social awareness too against the use.

Limiting the sale of alcohol will have many side effects. The people who are addict of drinking will do anything to get it. They will go to any extent to get it. This decision will result in increase of crime. I think government should make people aware of benefits of not drinking alcohol. If the government really want to have control on alcohol then it should work on root cause of it, only limiting to 5 star hotel may not help.
