No Not even a blanket ban can do the trick, people would find out even more dangerous ways to smoke. We need some other alternatives to get rid of this evil.[/quote
It won't totally eradicate smoking. I have seen people how they gradually reduced the frequency of smoking with every price rise till they reached zero frequency. Though they are small in number,, you cannot simply ignore them . After all a change occurs in small increments at the outset.

This takes a little willpower to quit smoking. I am the one who quit nine years before in just one day. I used to smoke 30-40 figs a day and cost of cigarette was not the reason. I wanted to quit it so I did.

Cost or no cost, it takes only will power, not little, an immense will power to overcome.

In my case it was only a little plus motivation by my daughter. I did it on 23May 2004 for never to touch again..

We have to see here to what extent that little plus has impacted and made an indelible mark on your heart. Some times big religious heads fail to make an impact on a person. Because, trhose sermons did not leave an impression on the hearts of the person.

I am not too sure about that given the circumstances here.there will be locally made beedis and cigarettes available in black and it may make matters worse. The only way is to educate the masses and make them aware..

Pay no mind to those who talk behind your back, it simply means that you are two steps ahead !!!

No they wont decrease the death rate. When it was 100 rs also people will buy them as they are eddicted to it.

Not all. There would be certainly a fall in consumption of a smoker
Most of the people who smoke are very Middle class people. So, if the price hike is there, then there would be a downfall in use of cigarette.

I don't think a hike in cigarette can create much impact on human lives. If its increased 100% also, people will continue smoking.

Born to express, not to impress.

I feel If the cigarette price increases then more people will become criminals because as they cannot stand without the smoking habit, so for having smoking they need money and as they don't have much money they start doing crimes for money. So I feel rising the price of the cigarette is not at a correct idea

Slow and Steady Wins the Race.

People who are addicted don't bother the price so it will not affect the smoker.

One who got addicted to smoke cannot quit that easily as like quitting alcohol consumption. But one of my friend who is a chain smoker stopped immediately from one fine day and its now three years gone. Its only because of his self control.
