This is indeed very inhuman. The Irish law against abortion is to prevent killing of life that is womb. But there is no sense to observe rigidity that in fact kills the mother to save the child in womb. when one death is certain, life of the mother should have been saved.

Very true, what is heartening is that now after this tragedy happened , many citizens from Ireland and even from England are protesting against this and are putting pressure on the government of Ireland to modify their laws so that life is given more importance than religion...

No, humanity doesn't need such religion. What for these religions are? For whom these religions are meant for?
Yes definitely ! humanity stands above religion and all other man made institutions and for government authorities to do such a thing shows the kind of hold religion has on people...Hopefully things would change for the better !

Within hours of Savita's hospitalization on October 21, doctors determined that she was miscarrying.Over the next three days, they refused requests for a termination of her fetus to ease her surging pain and fading health. The dead fetus was later removed and Savita was taken to the high dependency unit and then to the intensive care unit, where she died of septicemia on October 28.

Savita is supposed to have said- 'I am neither Irish nor Catholic' , but the consultant replied there was nothing they could do,"

Humanity needs no religion. The religions mean- no justice and no fair play. Humanism is best. What happened in Ireland is blatant breach of human rights. They killed a living adult woman to save a child yet to be born. It is aptly said that law is blind. Presently each country acts according to own law. Others are also supposed to follow land of the law. But when no person in the particular country is involved, there is no sense in law of land. The woman was neither Irish nor any citizen of Ireland was involved. Then why should the Irish law apply to her? It is high time international community rises to need of framing common rules for people moving to different countries on Visa.

Doctor should not believe in any religion. They should make strict rules of the hospitals where no such religious norms will be followed. Killing a woman is also against religion.
This is not a rule made individually either by a doctor or the hospital, but the country itself which is Catholic in its belief and Catholism is against abortion...

I think other western country do follow Catholism but they do not have any strict rules against abortion. This is inhuman act indeed.

Hope not ! however unless a case similar to this presents itself one can never be sure how the authorities would react...all said and done it is cruelty and totally inhuman , almost a murder in the name of religion!
