I had commenced this thread for highlighting the need to help the locals in affected reason. Many of them lost their source of income and shelter. They are helpless- much more helpless than the pilgrims and tourists who are stranded there. Once they are taken out from Uttarakhand, their issue is resolved.

But the poor locals have to live in Uttarakhand. They have no home, no property, no job outside Uttarakhand. It appears that they are getting no attention at all.

The livelihood for most of the inhabitants is pilgrim tourism. Now Kedarnath and Badrinath are wiped off. Central tourism and Gujarat governments announced funds to bring back the old glory of Char dham. Till then people of this place have to suffer.

There needs be some relief package and rehabilitation scheme for the uttarakhand locals. Theyt are the worst sufferers.

The tragedy indeed is man made. It has now also come to attention that the meteorological department had issued advanced warnings regarding heavy rains and had also asked the government to stop entry of pilgrims into Kedarnath and also to evacuate existing pilgrims from Kedarnath to Dehradun immediately. But those were disregarded and now there is a mud slinging match on between all parties concerned. Of course now they will never accept their follies, after committing such extremely grave error, who has now face to own their mistakes?

Yes, it is a very grim and hard struggle for existence for those who have managed to survive. The past experience shows once the heat of events goes off these hapless people are left high and dry by the media and all just to fend for themselves!
