Sometime back i have read in the discussion forum that if a article is rejected it will be visible to only the author and not the other users. Yesterday when i was editing my article after saving that, it was counted as a hit. Will the hit count gets incremented even if the article is not published? Also hit count gets incremented even if the article is rejected

The hit count will increase even if you read it or the moderators who will have the access read it.

Ha haa...That means before publishing itself its hit count begins to work!So these hits shown are not true hits ???

The cash points and points are not affected by hits. The hits only indicate popularity of the topic indicated by the title. an individual interested in cricket, for example, will click a title concerning the sports even if the article is totally useless. Thus hits neither affect cash credit nor points nor quality of article. Thus the number of hits is not so relevant.

You are correct in one sense that hits does not affect cash credit. You says it counts the popularity of the topic. But as told in the discussion if hits begin to count before publishing the articles how will it be a pointer to the popularity of the topic? Many hits counted may be from editing the article itself.

Hello moderator,
Main page of Boddunan shows the menu "Most Read Articles".Can you tell me how this is chosen? Is it based on the number of hits?If it is, then just clicking an article many times will make it popular?

I would like to clarify few points here.

1. There is no means to track who is reading the article, whether it is the author or some other person. So even if the author read the article, it counts as a hit.

2. The number of hits made by the editors/moderators is negligible number. They will read it if there is some problem, correction etc. needed. Mostly, a couple of hits would be made before the article gets published.

So, do you think the hits before the article get published will affect the popularity?

Today I took one of my earlier published article to note its fontsize and font style. Before taking it the number of hits was 96.But when I done and came out I saw the hits crossed one hundred!!!Being an old article I don't beleive it to be read by some other at that time.It means one click by author (probably by others also?)counts not one but more than one.

Well it doesn't matter if it is an old article or new. If someone likes it he will read it. May be some one from search engine finds it and read it :) .

My doubt is that whether hit counter counts 100 after 96 and 110 after 105 ? Yes, in my blog I put one counter. It was like that.So it is good to check the counting of counter.
