Boys and girls look different but they are equal in ability and intelligence, whether in education, sports, business, politics or any other field of human activity. Women have proved their capability. They display strength and determination in no less term than any man. Then, how can they not be equal to men?

Look at your mother! How well she brings you up. She teaches you good values, guides you and is your pillar of strength. She takes up the responsibility of the entire household. It is often said, ``the hand that rocks the cradle rules the world.’’

Abraham Lincoln and Johan quinsy Adams, the two president of America said, ``All that I am, I owe it to my mother!’’

Women actively participated in the struggle for freedom of our country. They showed immense courage and valor.

The winner

Naveen and Veena were good friends and their interests were similar. Both of them loved horse riding.

Once while playing Naveen started teasing Veena, `` Veena you are a girl. You can never ride a horse faster than me’’.

Veena said, ``well, if it’s a challenge, I accept it. I will show you right away.’’ Saying this she pulled herself up on the horse. Naveen too climbed his horse and they rode off. Both the horses began to gallop with great speed. For sometime they rode almost neck to neck. Soon Veena raced ahead leaving Naveen behind. Naveen tried his best to catch up with Veena but all he could see was a cloud of dust ahead of him. While making efforts to ride even faster Naveen fell from the horse and got hurt.

``Stop, Veena! Stop,’’. He yelled.

Turning back she saw Naveen on the ground and shouted, ``I am coming Naveen, don’t worry.’’

She back, helped Naveen to stand on his feet and took him to his house. On the way Naveen said, ``you can make the horse run very fast Veena’’. ``You questioned my ability and challenged me’’, smiled the girl. You are courageous and brave too,’’ said Naveen. `` I always thought that boys were superior to girls. It is not so; you have changed my opinion,’’ he added.

Do you know who Veena was? She was Moropanth Tamlie’s daughter who grew up to become Rani Lakshmibai, the ruler of Jhansi. The boy was Nana sahib, son of Peshwa Baji Rao. In 1857, when the first war of independence broke, Rani Lakshmibai fought bravely. She died fighting or her kingdom. We remember her as `Jansi Ki Rani’, the brave woman of India. We salute her undying spirit and courage.

There are innumerable instances of the achievements of women in varied fields. The other qualities of tenderness, sympathy, kindness and care generally shown by women should be appreciated. People who show disrespect to women and consider them inferior are not civilized people.

Boys and girls should not o be pitted against each other. Rather they complement each other perfectly.

To give recognition and respect to women, we celebrate 8th March as the international women’ Day each year.
