Abraham Lincoln might have done his job for his country by wiping out slavery from the US. But yes, I agree with what's given in the news. Forced marriage is one of them and there are still a lot of places where people are bought and sold like slaves.

That was one aspect of slavery which he was successfully able to wipe out. But now in modern times another kind of human slavery exists even in a country like US, that is, human trafficking of girls, women and children for purpose of forcing them into prostitution. Not juts US but across the world, this kind of slavery exists in large proportions but is well hidden from the eyes of public!

Yes it is different. But the root is the same. That is because the human nature and the human tendency. That has to change in the first place. Scores of Lincolns will not be able to do that and that's the sorry part of the tale.

Abraham Lincoln before starting the movement to erase Slavery, directed all his endeavors to create awareness in the people. And in India we have only platform speakers. There are no awareness creators, which is more important than the movement.

Those who work for people behind limelight can give prudent opportunity to real cause, the malaise that has been there is becoming cancerous, it is time to treat it early. Otherwise a doom's day is coming.

Any evil in the system will certainly have a root . The root should be eradicated in order to know the ways to uproot the evil..the more earlier to eradicate the root, the better would be the results. Above all, the evil's further spreading can be arrested. This is the knowledge required which needs immediate attention.

The fact is that in India there are more talkative people than who actually perform. And there is no real will to change things. The thing that lacks the most is political will. The constant pestering by Pak is one such example. Otherwise, who will bear the harassment by anyone without any reason?

We need performers. We don't need empty vessels. Content in the vessel counts. Not mere sounds..
I feel that the root cause of majority of the cases of modern slavery is poverty. Whether it is child labour, bonded labour, forced marriage, exploitations of prostitutes etc many of the victims get resigned to their fate as they have little choice. For instance, many children put up with poor working conditions, long duration of working hour with little rest time and low salary just to escape starvation. So, as long as poverty exist, it would be difficult to do away with slavery.

@Gulshan,
The matriarchal system that you have mention being followed in North East is prevalent only among the tribes of Meghalaya state.
Absolutely, poverty is the source of all difficulties, and in many areas children are sold for mere sums, but that sum seems to be on higher side of poors. All these led to these modern slavery. Poverty eradication is the sole form to remove modern slavery.

That's what I am saying. Even a child can speak big things. If only the spoken words get translated into deeds only then we can hope of something better. Otherwise, life will continue to move on like this....

I agree with you. Unless the words are translated in to deeds, we are destined to live a life of slavery.
