    Just seen KAHANI movie yesterday night... Many Bengali words in it, and I don't understand many... But still its a sweet language.

    I don't know other languages.from the regional languages i know little bit of Punjabi.I know Bengali is not a tough language and one can learn it easily. :)

    Not easily, you must concentrate hard to learn it and unless you remain in constant touch you shall not be a good one. But who live there regularly can learn it with practice. Same goes for Assamese. I was there for 7-8 years off and on.

    Yes you need to remain in the company of the people who speak that particular language you want to learn. :)

    The truth is that any language would be lovable if you love it! Ideally once should learn the language of the state in which he or she resides. I can't understand why Pranab Mukherjee who has been in Delhi for the last 50 years can't speak in proper Hindi! Very shocking!!

    Actually people who do not come in contact of local people or speak mostly in English while at business, do not get a chance to learn local languages. I tried hard wherever posted to learn that could make me go with the locals in difficult situations. Like in some places, interior mostly where they do not know Hindi or English, my knowledge, however small, came in handy.
