It is interesting that @Usha the teacher does not like professers!!

The thread started with ideal form of govt. and society. Then the issue of selection of Presidential candidate crept in. Some have commented on .highlighting 'dalit' caste of the NDA Presidential candidate As Vijay remarked there is nothing to say about  personal merits/ demerits of the candidate. But it is unfortunate that his caste is being highlighted instead of merits..I remember that Mr. K.R. Narayanan was also a Dalit but nobody referred to his caste as such. It is the role of media that is most condemnable.. Just after selection of the NDA Presidential candidate, the media highlighted- 'Dalit Card by NDA'..  Again when Congress/ other opposition nominated  candidate, against caste factor was highlighted. Nobody ever talked about caste of Dr. Rajndra Prasad or Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy.  .  .  

We simply cannot compare nor expect things to be like they were before. By the eighties , our politicians had made sure that the caste and minority factors became entrenched deeply into our society thereby stratifying the entire nation. Media is afterall highlighting this state of affairs, so can't really blame them if they go overboard at times. 

Since the only way is to move forward, we can only  hope for positive change if some young leaders are able to instil new ideas and  have the courage to face the consequences. 

Instilling new ideas in matters of caste division and reservations seems to be far-fetched. No one wants to deplete their votebank. And no one will. Ignoring the caste factor is like political suicide nowadays.

Our " Secular" politicians want to extend the reservations to ridiculous limits..I remember Mulaym and Lalu wanting to give reservation to low caste muslim converts and Dalit muslim women and so on..
