Religion is not written on the forehead of any person. India and Indian are known for adoption. India is safe for all. But who want to set in India should be said with proud, I am Indian.

It's a new information for us in AP. Anyhow, we in AP do not observe Karwa Chouth as I said earlier. It is not enough that you are loving one, you must be apparently it. Karwa chouth is also one means of expressing that I love you. It is my opinion that in which direction we are living, is not important, we are all Indian so must be enjoyed all festivals of India.

chinmoymukherjee wrote:@Usha Who is going to do that? Restoring trust, tolerance is the job of visionary leaders both of the government as well as the opposition. The saddest part such lack of trust is not wanting in Indians among themselves as it is case with leaders of all walks of life. Here a PM who rubbishes the opposition on foreign soils. His views on Nehru is absurd.Nehru had failings but any attempt to bellittle him,his towering stature would make more popular than ever before.I commented months back that as long as Modi would remain committed to his development agenda he would find takers and the moment he veers off to the obscurantism he would meet the fate of failed rulers.I am growing apprehensive about the latter!! I agree that on should not belittle any leader while at home or abroad, it is tit for tat with BJP now because of the manner in which Sonia Gandhi, Mani Shankar Aiyer and Digvijay Singh went on and on about Modi and his Chaiwala origins and his role in Godra ..They started their tirade against him and why the double standards and why do they feel insulted now when their leaders are being targeted ?

At present Modi is best one leader in Indian politics. Modi is sincer for development of country. He have plan for the country. But not only opposition parties but some persons of BJP are also stacking obstacles. I agree with you Anil. Yes. It is true that people of Bihar were driven into dark ages by these political leaders like Nitish and Lalu for decades and decades. First of all it is necessary for the people of Bihar to understand the reality. Modi is an opportunity. People should utilize this opportunity for their own good. Statements like " Bahari " are the indicators of narrow mindedness of these political leaders. Every citizen of India is Indian, including Sonia Gandhi. These statements are only election stunt. Lalu Prasad know only one formula of politics, it is castisme religion. Once he said to his college at a public meeting "vikas Ukas Kya Hota Hai, Sampardyika Par Bolo.

When Khuswant Singh has written volumes after volumes on Sardar Jokes, all enjoyed and relished including SardarJis. Of coursse I read some of his books like Train to Pakistan, The company of women. I'm a great fan of Khuswant. He says, we the Indians lack the quality of laughing at ourselves. How true ! No doubt Khuswant was a great writer. His column Na, Kahu Se Dosti, Na kahu Se bair, was very popular is Hindi news paper readers. Woman and wine was his favorite subject.   Similarly, Khushwant Singh's many syndicated columns were very popular in English news papers.

vijay wrote: Politics does indeed make strange bedfellows. Nitish joining with Lalu looks strange but how does one explain Paswan joining Modi after having resigned on 2002 riots against Modi from Vajpayee's cabinet, and then enjoying 10 years in UPA cabinets. compromise is the name of the game. Ram vilas paswan is an opportunistic person. He is following only principal i.e. follow ruling party.

Yes sir. I agree with you. A joke is meant to create some mental easiness. Kushwant also treated joke as a joke. Seeing this Kushwant was encouraged to write volume after volume, which won the appreciation of. all including Sardars.

But I don't know how can either Trinmool or Left gain by this.  The organizers simply expressed their dissent on interference with peoples' food habits. It is also stated in the link that the organizers also provided sweets and veg items for vegetarians.  It appears that beef is not an issue in Wst Bengal Cow slaughter is not banned in the state. The Hindus are also not sensitive on the issue. Otherwise the Left parties would not arrange such party for fear of reaction of Hindu majority in the state.

I agree with the petition. But this is too late. For decades, all including Sardars have enjoyed the jokes. Butit is also a fact that nobody has any motive to insult. sikhs (Sardars) are admired for their intelligence, dedication and hard work. Then Santa Banta jokes are not about sikhcommunity as such. Itisonlyincidental that bothcharacters are sikhs or sardarji. In most movies, thevillain is Hindu. This is not for insulting any community.

Modi has to tackle them because otherwise he will be the loser.  Basic mistake is to differentiate between RSS peronalities. The RSS and its outfits are very clear about their fascist agenda. Modi is also first a RSS pracharak and anything else next. The RSS and its affiliates have just distributed duties among themselves. Some will provoke, others will regret, still some will talk of 'development and unity'. They do this for confusing people.
