Modi is focused on development. But his fellow travelers joined his bandwagon with an agenda of their own. hitch hiking they have come to power and are now interested in furthering their agenda which is at variance with Modi's developmental agenda. Modi has to tackle them because otherwise he will be the loser.

vijay said thank you to Shampa Sadhya for his/her reply to the topic Politicians and Tantriks .
@vijay I have no problem in continuing any discussion with decency. I don't want to abruptly conclude any discussion but sometimes when we oppose a matter by raising the same contradictory point then I find that there is a repetition of our opinion and that's all. I have nothing against your view, the reason is we are matured people and we know how to tackle a situation which seems to go a bit wrong. It's fine as it happens in every discussion so there is no need to be regretful. If I have hurt your sentiment then I am definitely sorry. Well, as @Kalyani commented that's her way of controlling a situation. She must have thought that the discussion is taking a wrong turn so she intervened which is absolutely right in her own way. No more further discussion about it, please. It's all fine.

There is no comparison between Modi who is not corrupt and not facing any charges , out on bail etc like Lalu is ! Lalu has always looked after his own interests rather than the interest of the state , the fact was proved when he was in power as CM for more than 10 years when Bihar saw negative growth and today he latches on to Nitish just because he wants to bring in his family into the fray and enjoy back seat driving like he did when Rabri Devi was the CM..

@Usha Who is going to do that? Restoring trust, tolerance is the job of visionary leaders both of the government as well as the opposition. The saddest part such lack of trust is not wanting in Indians among themselves as it is case with leaders of all walks of life. Here a PM who rubbishes the opposition on foreign soils. His views on Nehru is absurd.Nehru had failings but any attempt to bellittle him,his towering stature would make more popular than ever before.I commented months back that as long as Modi would remain committed to his development agenda he would find takers and the moment he veers off to the obscurantism he would meet the fate of failed rulers.I am growing apprehensive about the latter!!

When Khuswant Singh has written volumes after volumes on Sardar Jokes, all enjoyed and relished including SardarJis. Of coursse I read some of his books like Train to Pakistan, The company of women. I'm a great fan of Khuswant. He says, we the Indians lack the quality of laughing at ourselves. How true !

It's a new information for us in AP. Anyhow, we in AP do not observe Karwa Chouth as I said earlier.

In your previous posts elsewhere you have said you are a rationalist and if I remember correctly also an atheist It was with this background I asked you as to why should the writer presenting a rationale as he does  cause discomfort to you and requested for proof etc. Now you say you are a believer. Which version of yours should  I believe.

Shampa Sadhya wrote: @vijay If you read my reply once again then you will see I have written 'mostly' and not 'all politicians'. We opine such negatively only because they never rise above their party and petty politics. I do agree some politicians are surely good but that number is pretty less and ultimately they don't speak their mind but showcase solidarity with their political friends. You are absolutely right in putting forward your own opinion. Here, I don't think any of us write to gain popularity. We have the right to oppose or to accept and that is what discussion is all about. You have named me as conformist, that's fine with me. What's wrong in it? I am not harming anyone. I am open to new ideas but that does not mean I have to act against that opinion of mine on which I strongly believe.  If I understood your previous post and above post, then you are stating that by my taking a stand contrary to others keeps the issues alive, which I conclude you do not like to happen. It is in this context I said you are a conformist to views of others. I fully respect your choice and had suggested as a friendly advice that you should be open to other view points also which may be different than yours. You are entitled to whatever stand you want to take and that is your fundamental right. @ Nandurkar opines that I have launched a tirade against you. If you got such feeling then let me assure you that it was furthest from my mind to do so. Pl let me know so that I can express my regrets.

@ Nandurkar is fully within her rights in not seeing any merit in my comments.  But to call my response to @Shampa a tirade is not fair. I was replying to her pointed observation that in general my comments are against the common trend in the posts. In doing so I used the term "at your age" as a figure of speech with no intention of any personal attack or tirade . @ Shampa has given a very appropriate response to my post and I concur with her that even if she is a conformist she does not hurt anyone. @ Nandurkar may perhaps reconsider her response. Even if you do not then also it is OK by me, because you have made that an issue which was not meat at all. Good luck.

India sure is a safe country for all its citizens including Muslims. This is something we should be proud of. After all it  is so because the majority of the majority community want it that way, Credit goes to them.

vijay replied to the topic Heated Bihar Polls ..Round 4.
Politics does indeed make strange bedfellows. Nitish joining with Lalu looks strange but how does one explain Paswan joining Modi after having resigned on 2002 riots against Modi from Vajpayee's cabinet, and then enjoying 10 years in UPA cabinets. compromise is the name of the game.

For every person who wants no one to eat beef, there is another who wants choice to eat whatever he wants to eat. Thus this war between no choice and choice will be fought till one side gives in. Which side shall it be only time will tell. @ Suni51 am I right that beef is not banned in West Bengal? Because if it is not then there was no need for the beef party.

It is true that in past when horrific events took place we did not see such concerted return of state awards. Why is it happening now needs to be exposed because by saying that it is a concerted move against present government is not enough, it has to be established esp. because too many diverse elements are operating together.  What is bringing them together?

Today Moody's Analytics and Raghuram Rajan have both come up with the same sentiments - that the central government especially Modi has to take a firm stand against detractors who are bent on creating unrest  Raghuram Rajan has called for an improved environment for tolerance and mutual respect ! https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=4&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CCsQqQIwA2oVChMI9qOvgb_syAIVhF2mCh1Y0AUL&url=http%3A%2F%2Findianexpress.com%2Farticle%2Findia%2Findia-news-india%2Fmoodys-to-modi-rein-in-members-or-risk-losing-credibility%2F&usg=AFQjCNEeyy-UxalbJ_F62kbDpuqlLthJPQ&sig2=GqPnODMFwKjT_gSxVfMwjw

Then after the birth of son, I resigned and chose to stay home as a full time mother but one fine day, a great opportunity came knocking on me when I was asked to translated an art instruction book as a trial. It turned out great , the publishers liked my work and I now am an almost fulltime freelance translator. IT was around teh same time that I stumbled across boddunan where I tried my hand at writing articles, which I could successfully and liked it. So initially even though I may not have worked at something I liked best, it was sheer chance that I changed my career completely opposite of what I had been doing until now and found that it was something I really liked. Now, there is another opportunity where I will starting next week as administrator of an art studio. I will share the details of it soon with you as I want to share and connect you all too with the activities that we will be conducting in our art studio. Kalyani, It is nice to know that things have worked out very well for you and I am sure that you will put in your best efforts and dedication to anything you take up and I certainly look forward to hear about the activities that you will be a part of, in the art studio..

As far as political parties and opposition is concerned , development is the last thing on their mind, it is control and manipulation. I sincerely hope that the people realise how fake the alliance is and vote for development rather than false promises from people like Lalu and Congress party . Nitish Kumar no doubt has been a good leader but with the gauntlets he has chosen to have with him, I doubt if he would be able to or allowed to have the freedom to function like before !
