The soldier joined army of the neighboring state. The soldier got promoted as army chief within a year because of his merit.  One day the king asked that soldier to make war with the adjoining state from where the soldier had been banished. The king of the neighboring state was happy and he appointed him as his representative for ruling the state.  The General (ex soldier of defeated king) said- sir, That day I had just day dreamed exactly what you are seeing today. If I had told that day that my dream is to become ruler of this state, you would have executed me. This story just tells that there will always be obstructions on your path. Just work silently on your ambitions and you will succeed. Well said with an apt example. Though it is a story, it has said about the truth . I agree with you it's but natural there will be impediments and hurdles in the path of one's existence. Wisdom lies in facing those adversities  without running away from them

To a certain extent most people like to be surrounded by flatterers even at work place this is true and this may get them some benefits and some minor perks , this may be in government offices but I doubt if it can progress much in private concerns. On the whole unless a person has capacity, I doubt if anyone would promote him/her based only on flattery . In today's world , work culture has reached quite a new kind of efficiency and unless you have a very capable staff you wil be left behind !

Unless each member consciously curbs the instinct to post for the sake of doing so we will find discussions becoming boring and repetitive. Many discussions have more than 50% of the posts made by one member only and this demotivates others ! So, it depends on individual members to maintain a certain amount of discipline ..

Yes sir it's the people ln PoK wanted to join the Indian territory. The chairman of the agitation confirmed this.

India claims the entire Kashmir region including POK as Indian territory.  It is a possibility that residents of POK may not be comfortable with their present conditions and would be happier in India.

These fears which we think in the conscious condition. And these fears go in to our subconscious. They surface up some day or other. Good to know now you do not have such night mares.

An ideal discussion means free and frank expression of views,  responding to others' views,  flexibility and restricting to scope of the point at issue.  Flexibility is significant. If you are so rigid that yo cannot change your view in any circumstances, any discussion will be futile.

Many studies have been conducted on this subject and the best advise given was to keep a paper and pen handy and write down everything you remember as soon as you wake up without trying to focus, so that at least some bits are remembered. This was done for study purpose and was apparently helpful.

I feel that a good discussion is one where members have freely aired their views on the subject being discussed and have contributed to the discussion.I will not say positive or negative because interpretations would be different to each member and it is difficult to draw the line! Sometimes the topic might be such that it might invite some controversial responses which should be taken by others in the right spirit. We are all adults here and can handle things , if not there are moderators to intervene and steer the discussion on its right track! Repetetive posts and ideas should be avoided  ..A little bit of humor and wit is definitely welcome since we are not on a college campus !

I love to be enlightened, informed and mischievously controversial to draw the best out of my knowledgeable friends and the worst out of me! And if it is packaged in commanding wisdom and sparkling wit ,it is a generous bonus! Obviously mutual respect, dignity and openness make any discussion a truly stimulating and memorable experience.

I don't know who are those bullies. I presume they must be weaker than me! A bully never gets attracted with their best or worst efforts and ultimately make themselves dispensable, redundant to thin away and out.But the question that merits serious consideration is if those who have entrusted with the job of discipling bullies have been up to their job?

As soon as the rules are clear, the things will look different.

There should not be any distinction between new members and seniors. It is talents that count, not seniority. And many new members are highly talented and have been performing admirably in many other reputed sites. An equal treatment, with same rules for all, will definitely enhance the dignity of the site.

As far as comments are concerned, they should be lucid. Sometimes a bit of humor is alright, but such humorous comments should be linked with the content of the post. There should not be cryptic, mysterious and obscure .comments.
