This promise has already been fulfilled by the AAP today itself just 48 hours after taking oath ! They will be able to supply 660 lts of water free of cost to all households in Delhi and this is really something , unlike the other political parties who promise and forget the moment they win !

However even a small consumption above 660 lts of water will take away the benefit. Then entire consumption will be charged. But this is also good. This ensures that water is used more economically.

It is true that Kejriwal has kept his promise of providing free water to all citizens of Delhi who have valid connections and metres but what I feel is , is it really prudent and wise to provide free water to all?? Now the people who paid for water earlier and very well could afford to pay the bill also will stop paying for it! This means emptying the government treasury for no reason and what about money for maintenance of the entire system, salaries etc.???? No one seems to be questioning these basic and logical issues! While everyone is applauding Kejriwal on this decision, everyone has conveniently forgotten that it was this free-food, free-water, etc. policy by congress that has brought about the deteriorated condition of economic status of our country! Kejriwal seems to be following the same line now! It is water today, tomorrow it will be something else! Shouldn't he be asking people to work for everything??

It is not about applauding Kejriwal, I think more than this we are thinking about the moves being taken for the people, where are the results, what about this and how about that. Such questions - as you have mentioned - I think would be there in everyone's mind.... but we need to be patient to see what results come out of the steps taken by him. I hope all such aspects would have been thought through before making the decision to supply water free of cost. Somewhere I feel, it is too much of public expectation of what all Kejriwal will do next. I think we should give time to realize the true outcome.

Samir I agree that people are expecting too much from him in such a short period of time and we must wait for the outcome, but whatever the scenario is, whoever the person is at the helm of affairs, it has always been proven that decisions taken with socialist set of principles such as freebies for citizens have never worked anywhere, In India, in world. His decision to refuse all the paraphernalia that goes with his post such as a swanky car, bungalow etc. will definitely cut costs in lakhs of rupees of public taxes. But providing free water to all will mean increased costs in terms of salaries, maintenance etc. which will run in crores! I see no wisdom in this decision! And providing free water does not mean that he is thinking of citizens, if he really was thinking about the social welfare, he would have concentrated on making streets of Delhi crime free and safe for women and all!

I too am not too comfortable with giving anything free because people have a way off taking things for granted and wasting it...However , I hope Kejriwal knows what he is doing and has more future plans where only the deserving get the benefits ! There is a long way to go and our population is used to corruption, ready to compromise at the drop of hat and these may prove to be an obstacle for him.He is surrounded by larger sharks who have been around since Independance and they will not give up that easily !

Pay no mind to those who talk behind your back, it simply means that you are two steps ahead !!!

True ...whatever comes free normally loses its value in a short period of time. As of now, he has announced that people who use more water than their allotted 667 litres will have to pay for all the water etc. But I wonder if he has thought of a system to keep tabs on the usage and how the recovery will be done etc. And the sharks that you mentioned are only waiting for the right time and opportunity to make their move! It is a very tricky and sharp line Kejriwal is walking on!

Do all these freebies will influence voters? Here am not considering the aspect of AAP, as they are starters. but if a corrupt government promises all these and soon most of government will do such promises, then voted again are we as voters are influenced through all these freebies, are all these not against recent honorable Supreme Court of Justice decision which says there will not be any such freebies announced during elections and am surprised no political party and election commission have objected to all these announcements by AAP. I am surprised Delhites are influenced by all these freebies, does all these are sending a wrong message to all Indians from it own capital, soon most political parties will announce free electricity, free water and so on, and soon all these new innovation will become normal and what will be the state of economy, I am amazed here of this discussion everyone is supporting in this great forum, but all these announcement of freebies are against the statues of Supreme court this means all these announcements are illegal, but no one in this county is caring for this as it seems we are in the state of tiger or jungles as mentioned by Locke.

Whatever AAP has promised and fulfilled are nothing but a part AAP's Manifesto. There is nothing illegal about this. If AAP's promises are illegal, so are the promises of BJP and Congress.

Five months back in a decision of Supreme Court, no political party can announce such freebies during elections in their election manifesto, if they then severe action will be taken against those political parties, it is a law, as pronounce by SC, but no political parties and even Election commission of India, object to these freebies, even as it seems voters are not aware of all these.

Then what's stopping Supreme court to take action on the erring parties? I found even judiciary has its weak points. Let judiciary act and implement whatever it passed as Law.
