Awards can be returned only once. How can these be returned again and again. secondly, killing of an individual at his residence in a planned way by making false announcement on village temple is not comparable to Malda incidents where crowd lost control. Also the protests were not only on killing of an individual in U.P. but these were also a reaction against pre-planned murders of authors/ rationalists in Karnataka  and Maharashtra.

Exactly that was case related to illegal relations between a girl and a boy of different communities and few people planned it that way and killed accused, the case is entirely different from Maldah where the other community did it in planned manner and wiped out the entire area. There is no comparison.

That is exactly what I was thinking ! Where are all the great writers and the so called rational thinkers and their award giving drama , in fact not a word from any one of them including Girish Karnad , who is always the first one to criticise ! It is totally missing this time round. I guess it is because TMC is not BJP, thats the only explanation I can think of ..

Its not because of TMC, it does not matter which party it is, but it is all about the truth the Hindus are at the receiving end in this instant and it is they who are having to flee with their lives. come on now, let us not blame Girish Karnad, for he is only one of the most intellectual and progressive creed, who speak and act in keeping with the times. Now, the times are all about slandering and persecuting Hindus in a silent mode and making loud noise when it is done to Muslims. Sic!

True Kalyani ! It has become a fad for Hindus to criticise fellow Hindus and they go to any extent to do that ! As far as Girish Karnad is concerned, he is perpetually putting his foot in the mouth, trying to show what a secular person he is...The latest was when he spoke about naming the Bangalore international airport after Tipu Sultan, who was as communal as any Mughal ruler could be. Karnad had to change his stand after the outcry ! I wonder why they come up with such outrageous statements in the first place ?

Usha, it is kind of a like a moral responsibility of these pesudo-socialists and modernists such as Girish Karnad to keep putting their foot in their mouths and make slanderous statements against Hindus, conveniently forgetting that they are Hindu themselves. It is my personal opinion that all such people should really be exiled from the country they so love to hate!

Today India is facing selective secularism which is dangerous for the security of our country.  People start feeling unequal, if only one community is favored in the name of secularism. Secularism means respecting beliefs of all communities, but in the name of secularism some people try to hurt sentiments of one community to please the vote bank from other community.

It's a known fact that Secularism in its true sense  offers equal opportunities irrespective of  caste , creed or religion. It is also a well known fact, how Secularism being raped, ravaged and distorted by the Politicians to form Vote Banks for their own survival.

If this vote bank politics end in India then India will grow much faster than now. India needs clean politics.

Of course, in order to take India in to the paths of progress, we need clean politics. No preferences. No priorities. Every citizen has to get opportunities without any discrimination. It's only then a Nation becomes healthy and strong. With these reforms, India in no time can become one of the advanced and well developed Nations.

The ordinary Indian understands secularism mucg better than us arm chair critics. Why do we repeatedly elect low grade politicians who let us down all the time. Many  More Maldas are waiting to happen. There is no central unifying force in Hinduism. It is truly  not a religion but a way of life. It is great for the individual but fails in groups. Another great reformer is needed.

You say an ordinary citizen knows better tan the arm chair administrators. At the same time, you question why people elect low grade politicians. Ordinary people do not constitute electorate? It's because of these ordinary people, the Congress party has been kicked out unceremoniously. It's because of these ordinary people, a party like the BJP that works has been coronated.

Yes all the scoundrels in politics are elected by electorates. That is the dichotomy I was referring to. The ordinary folks are wise but elect politicians of dubious character and reputation. I do not agree that BJP is the only party that works. Other parties including Congress have also contributed to India's growth story. And they were also elected repeatedly by the same electorate. So let us not be judgmental. Yesterday someone has returned his award recd. from the Hyderabad University. So where is the tolerance vs intolerance debate going to go now.

When communal clashes occurred in Malda and Purnia, media and other news channels turned their eyes to avoid more problems even if some political parties have tried to build it up. According to media these places are crime-prone areas and so they didn't feel it was important to give too much publicity to this news. That was a conscious policy of the channel.
