I am a fan of her. After 34 years she has changed manything. She is successfull in Jangal mahal regarding moist issue. She has solved the Darjeeling issue. She is trying to develop the state. The admin is fast now and yes some incidents happened but what can she do?
I think In India she is one of the honest person and politician.

Quality of leadership of Mamata Banerjee is not an issue. Issue is simple- killing of a student activist while in police custody in a vehicle. This needs proper judicial inquiry and remedial measure. Maoist issue solution and Darjeeling issue have nothing to do with this thread.

Being a fan is a personal issue and one cannot close ones eyes when the person is taking advantage of such fan following and becoming a dictator in the recent years.She might have done some good but that does not give her the authority to think she can do anything and get away with it !

The protesting students in Delhi attacked and manhandled West Bengal minister. Mamata Banerjee is furious. This is understandable. But there is a proverb- As you sow, so shall you reap. Earlier the West Bengal ministers learn, the better.

What Mamata calls dirty politics is what she is practicing ...what can a common man do except show his anger and frustration through protests!

IT seems like everyone is now into practicing dirty politics, be it WB, be it Maharashtra or elsewhere. These politicos just do whatever they feel like to get a moment's worth of publicity even if it is negative. What these politicians lack is vision for tomorrow. They forget that the actions of those in power dictate a country's history and thus, by behaving in such abominable manner, they are only leaving notoriety behind them and a dark future for the country!

I agree with your views, Kalyani! Unfortunately I come across some highly partisan and ignorant comments which should not be in boddunan platform. What is dirty, undesirable should be universally condemned but what I find here is ridiculous. There are comments which sound like damning with faint praises!!!!! Such one-eyed observations neither put things in right perspective nor do these educate us in any manner.

I agree with you and understand what and who you mean. Yet unfortunately, since this is an open forum, every one is welcome to express their views. And in any case, wrt to cases you mean, they choose to close their eyes and minds so even if we tell them so, it will hardly make any difference! :blink:

Like Gulshan and Usha have already told you, this is not about her honesty or integrity or any such thing. I too used to her fan initially but I have seen and read and most importantly, understood the agenda she is trying to push into people's throats! It is her autocratic and dictatorial style that we are objecting to. She is nowadays only trying to suffocate freedom of press and freedom of personal views and that is what is extremely worrisome and damaging for the country, what she does in WB does not make the rest of the country immune to consequences of her actions. I hope you understand what we are saying!

In response to some unfortunate incidents in the process of demonstration by student activists at Delhi, Mamata banerjee got furious and her party persons damaged property and beat many persons. In one case, the persons were just moving nears CPM office and had nothing to do with party politics. They were also beaten.

The incidents at New Delhi are bad enough. But surprisingly, Mamata Banerjee threatened to bring lakhs of her party persosns from West Bengal to deal with protesters in Delhi. This is her weakness and not strength. SFI and CPM are equally to blame for such violent incidents. But CPM need not bring men from other states to Delhi as Mamata does as she has no following outside West Bengal. This way, she will have to carry her musclemen from Bengal wherever she goes.

From being a socialist politician she is now turning into a terrorist politician. She is steadily going down and setting a bad example to all other Chief ministers as well....

I don't know what examples she is setting, but she has certainly lost my respect. She was very respectable (in my eyes) when she was with the NDA and when Mr. Vajpayee was the PM. But not anymore now.

I do not know of any Trinmool MLA in Manipur and Assam as these are far from me. But in U.P. there is only one Trinmool MLA who is on strength of his own personality and not on Trinmool organization which is non existent.

But this is not so much an issue. Trinmool is definitely a regional outfit. What we are really discussing here is the autocratic and bullying style of Trinmool politics. Girls in a West Bengal college have been threatened with rape by local west Bengal police obviously to please the ruling party.

Even more trouble now with the TMC goons attacking and ransacking Presidency college at Calcutta.Students are taking out a rally now and the governor has said that the attackers will be treated as criminals. Mamata in the mean time has complained of chest pain ( must be faking) and got herself admitted to a hospital, which is something all the politicians and criminals do the moment they sense trouble !
