Very rigid rules concerning forum will result in dullness as spontaneity is also necessary. So what I feel is that, 1. Initial cap of 5 threads by a single member each day should be imposed again. If felt necessary, it could be brought down to three than  five. 2. Repetition is a serious bane because there are some members  who keep repeating the same thing again and again in different ways, so capping the number of posts to a fixed one say, 40 or 50 is okay. 3. There should be no fixed time as to when a thread may be started, because it really is not the way a person might condition himself or herself and it might deter forum activity. but there should be restrictions on how long a thread can be carried further. It so happens that a thread may remain idle for a week or two until a new member comes in or even an old member may find something new related to the topic. So in that case, he or she may ask for the said topic to be reopened. 4. Contests related to writing articles should be started, that is where the major focus of our site lies and will also help bring a competitive edge back. These are all I can think of, for now.

Gandhiji's views on women may not be an entirely new concept. But Gandhiji, led  by example. Kasturba and GandhiJi together worked for cleaning the public toilets.

I agree.Amended Domestic violence  law did not  help the woes of women to fullest amount. Though the law reduced the instances of abuse, But as you said women's sufferings and woes did not come to a grinding halt. There is much to be done to give succor  to the suffering lot of woman

He elaborated his argument to the women there. "Answer for yourselves what your great soldiers and generals would do, if their wives and daughters and mothers refused to countenance their participation in militarism in any shape or form."  He no doubted respected dignityof women but he also held the view that a woman's proper place is home. He did not favor women sorkinh outside. Bread winning is man's job and housekeeping and upbringing children is women's.      I guess his views on women mirrored the trend during those times...He also said ' Educate a man you educate an individual, educate a woman and you educate a generation ' which shows that his idea of woman was not entirely ancient. I have heard many highly educated men saying the same thing , they feel that nature meant woman to make a home and take care of children and man to fend for his family and protect them.Times have changed and roles have changed but I often wonder at what cost ??

We can immediately see the results of sleep deprivation in small children. They become restless, irritable and very cranky and unless they have sufficient sleep their growth too can get stunted since they need double the amount of sleep we adults do .

This is what I wanted to highlight @vijay He should be admired for his contribution but presenting him as God in every walk of life is not acceptable to me. I have seen my father who was a simple man in every sense of the term but he was not a popular name, so what, Should the definition of simplicity change? Like my father there are numerous simple and honest beings but we don't love to follow them rather we try to follow those about whom we are only superfluously aware. What Gandhiji did in the name of Bhramacharya, if such is practised by any man in the present era, won't he be punished. So, it's better that let Gandhi as a freedom fighter be treated on a different pedestal from Gandhi, the man. Even in his freedom struggle he was also a biased man. He was against Subhash Bose and a simple man cannot be a biased man.

Shampa Sadhya wrote: @usha manohar I am not saying that women are not subjected to domestic violence. That percentage is high but that does not mean, men and their families are not getting ruined by such false cases. That percentage is less but growing day by day. They only can understand who have seen their loved ones getting falsely implicated and leading them to a shattered life. In the urban educated society it is becoming a routine problem and if we say that women are not selfish at all then it will be hilarious. I agree illiterate and poor women are the huge sufferers of domestic violence but in urban society women are misusing it with the help of their biological family. I have witnessed many such case. The men avoid to speak about domestic violence that does not mean some of them are not victims. As @rambabu said about the new law, that is very true or else earlier the boy's family were not even given a chance to present their side of the story. Thus, they land up into jail, loss of job, honour shattered, death of the aged people due to shock and what not. Both the parties are sufferer maybe males are less in number but if its not controlled then one day every young men would be behind the bars and the world is controlled by fake women.   We all form opinions going by our own personal experiences ...From what I have seen, earlier a woman had to put up with both physical and mental abuse by husband and his family and not speak about it whereas now they come out in the open ! This new found freedom might at times backfire n them because they may use it at the slightest provocation and this is bound to happen ...However, it is still a very imbalanced society that we have where women's rights are concerned.. Rambabu's case , although I don't know the details is really sad, because of the suffering it has caused him and his family.  But there are thousands of women out there silently suffering because they have no one to support them either by giving them the right advise nor do they have the financial means to file a case against their husbands who badger them day in and day out! Of course I am all for the amendment in the law because any law should be equal to all the citizens !

@Shampa : Yes he did indeed try out the experiment with young girls to try to test his brahamacharya and this and some other experiments are generally not highlighted out of respect to him. He was after all a human being with many faults. Also goes to prove that food has no effect on a person's conduct as is being propagated by some vested interests. Gandhijis leadership of freedom movement is a grand contribution worth admiring.

Food, physical and mental exercise, environment and cleanliness affect health.  An individual and society both have their roles. An individual needs regular habits of cleanliness and mental/ physical activity. The society or government is to look after good clean environment and ensure that food and mdicines are not adulterated and the medical faculitiesare adequate and proper.

It is true men can also be victims of domestic violence but the ratio of women suffering domestic violence is far far more then men to the extent of 90 to 95 % women suffer. Thus laws tend to favor women.

I cannot follow anyone blindly but always appreciate the good qualities. Gandhi is one whom I definitely respect for his contribution to the freedom struggle of India. My respect got a little blow recently when I read about Gandhiji's method of experiment to control himself among the young girls. That was ridiculous and I would say that no men would approve of such a deed even if they are die hard supporters of Gandhi. I won't discuss it further but the more we will dig inside then there will be some or the other revelation that may shock us extremely.

The number of participating members in the forum is limited.  Therefore it does at times appear that a thread is getting dragged as same members are commenting versus each other. Some could be doing for points others for coaxing others to join in.  I would suggest as follows : 1. The Threads should be started on fixed days every week, say. every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. 2. All threads will close on, say, Sunday 12.00 pm.(midnight)  (There will be no carry over). 3. Administration can also initiate threads. 4. The total number of posts in a thread should be capped at , say, 50 and it will then close. 5. A member can initiate maximum two threads a day. 6 A post should not be more than 160 characters in length. 6. A member can contribute max. five posts per topic per day maximum. 7. The Admn. can carry over a post to next week if the topic is interesting or extend it in the running week if participation touches 50 posts fast           enough  The above can be used to develop guidelines if found worthy of consideration.

I agre with the suggestions. Additionally, there should be time limit after which a thread would be locked. No threadshould continue for more than a week.

True. The new law pertaining to Domestic violence based on the charges of a woman has completely undergone a change. According to the new law there will not be any arrests. Why these changes were done because law itself realized how Domestic violence is being abused.. I experienced it and how I had nightmarish time for a period of 4 years.
