Thank you very much. The reason I wanted to know was because in all the discussions I heard and read I never came across that OROP was their till 1973. The way it was stated that after 42 years the demand was being conceded gave me such impression. I once again thank you for your providing the reference. My apologies to @ Usha if she has felt otherwise.

A leader need not be a hero and yet remain a leader. Hardly any hero is treated as a leader. Hero and leadership are not the same but you will stick to your stand, which is OK .

No confusion whatsoever. A Hero is one who does extraordinary things with ease and elan. And Leader is also akin to these traits.

There is no question of digging as facts should be right. I genuinely want to know was OROP there in 1973 ? A charge has been made against Indira Gandhi and needs to be clarified by thread initiator. I am also happy that the demands of army have been met though partially.

THEIR SEEMS TO BE SOME MIX UP IN HERO AND LEADER. A HERO NEED NOT BE A LEADER AND VICE VERSA. LEADERS ARE BEING SEEN AS HEROES WHICH IS POSSIBLE ONLY IN A FEW SELECT CASES. HEROISM IS AN EXCEPTIONAL ACT OF COURAGE IN ADVERSE CIRCUMSTANCES. MOST OF THE LEADERS ARE POSITIONAL LEADERS. THEY ARE NO LONGER SEEN AS LEADERS WHEN THEY LOSE THE POSITION. IT SEEMS INFORMAL LEADERS ARE BEING CONFUSED WITH HEROES.

To become a hero one needs lots of good luck also. Most of the time they have to fight their battles alone. It is only when they succeed that the zeroes hail them as heroes.

Lot many of us are uncomfortable with the Muslims in our country and what would have happened with nearly 25-30 crore Muslims addition in undivided India who are now in Pakistan and Bangladesh. I would not be surprised oif say after fifty or so years India will be headed for another religion based partition if present intolerance is an indication.

In the start of thread it is mentioned by @Usha that Indira Gandhi scrapped the OROP in 1973. To the best of my knowledge this is not correct. What had happened was that the pension of armed forces was reduced from 75% to 50% of last pay drawn based on the then pay commission's report. Member may like to clarify correct position.

Child utters whatever it likes thinking that what they are saying will please its parents. Instead of bashing the child and show red eyes, the parents should handle the situation in a positive manner. Otherwise the child develops negative attitude and there is a chance of becoming a Juvenile delinquent in future. Which is why Parents should exercise utmost patience in treating the children.

Children are quite sensitive and curious about life and nature. Being unknown to the facts of life, the kids say several creepy things to their parents. It all out of the lack of knowledge which they require to acquire in the meantime of their lives. They learn with the passage of time and therefore, they stop saying those creepy things to their parents and then they get meaning of all the things which are to be said and which are not required to be said. Therefore, when these creepy things are said parents have to make their kids understand that they should not speak those scary things.

Those who give birth, give you life. Those who take care of you, give you a living. What is the use of life without a living? If your parents give you birth and abandon you, then they are just human machines, not parents. Those who take care of you and give you a heart full of love are your real parents. Love is the language that makes the difference.
