The company has cheated American air pollution tests by installing some software which senses when some emission test is going on and shows result much lower than actual. This software is installed in the vehicles issued between 2008 and 2015. http://www.cnbc.com/2015/09/22/what-you-need-to-know-about-the-volkswagen-scandal.html

No body has any right to to criticize or rubbishing others opinions or beliefs. If one feels or thinks that he has the responsibility to reform the society, he's mistaken. Change has to come from within. Forcing in any form is both unwanted and uncivilized.

Any way look at it, be it with the consent or agreement between India and other countries interference with other country's policies or matters should  the last word for India for its own good. We have seen the repercussions of our interference in Bangla Desh. Whether Nepal is a friend as of now or otherwise, we will know over a period.

India did not interfere with Srilanka but only sent army at request of the Srilankan government. The Bangladesh issue is very diffent. There was large scale genocide and repression of local population by West Pakistan rulers. apparently, Idia interfered there to safeguard the entire people there.   There is no such situation in Nepal. As regards protecting our interests and arresting chinese influence, this is a matter of diplomacy, which is subtle and latent.      What was done in Srilanka was foolish without going into the ground realities which were that we were going against the Tamils, it was largely to prove a point with regard to Kashmir that such a step was taken which backfired on us...Bangla Desh no doubt is a different issue but for years we have had problems from them ..Nepal as of now is a friend !

I agree. It is grossly improper to insult any community and symbols associated with that.  It is okay to express opinion against idol worship or any form of worship and to express against superstitions. But there is no sense in insulting any belief or symbol in name of rationality.  Of course one has the freedom to express what one feels strongly about without being judgmental and that is where the friction comes and the fundamentalists on both sides are waiting for something like that to happen so that they can take advantage of the situation. The only thing that can help is witin the law and banning such organisations , at least thats what I feel !

OK sir. The aim is to arrest the sinister Sanatan Sanstha. To achieve the desired results. like minded people should work together. I would like to add that A true Rationalist neither criticizes others beliefs nor ridicules the customs. If some body does it, they are not Rationalists  but pseudo rationalists.

@ Gulshan The forces of irrationality, superstition are so active that the journalists and rationalists are murdered. The organization goes by name of Sanatan. The organization harasses the jornlaist or anyone whom they consider anti religious. It is time such terrorist organizatuions are checked.  http://www.firstpost.com/india/the-ngo-that-aims-to-reinstate-divine-kingdom-all-you-need-to-know-about-sanatan-sanstha-2441850.html http://www.ndtv.com/video/player/prime-time/prime-time-questioning-on-the-role-of-sanatan/383954   It is politics that has let them function so far because no political party is willing to bell the cat since it may come in the way of their vote banks .. Now of course they point fingers at each other and dare each other to do so !

Kalyani Nandurkar said thank you to Shampa Sadhya for his/her reply to the topic Are we leading to Empty Nester Syndrome?.
@Kalyani Though every moment my mind is engrossed in my son's thought, you know I deliberately try to keep myself detached and for this I have developed a habit of asking him to do some of his personal work by himself. I know if I help him he will be happy even I will be satisfied that the work was done well but for two reasons I sometimes harshly deny to help him. If I softly ask him to do the work then he will nag me to help so I try to be harsh. One reason is that he needs to become independent and secondly, I need to understand that he will not need me always and so I must not have the feeling of being unwanted. Now, I try to squeeze out time from everything and indulge into writing, reading, experimenting new recipes, chatting with my loved ones, watching a good programme, listen songs or have some rest.

Each moment has its own life. It may be a Happy moment or a sad moment. With time happiness and sad moment wane away. Neither happiness or unhappiness remain forever. So are the happy moments spent with our children and family and the melancholic moments of separations. Wisdom lies in adopting to the ever changing conditions.

Movies like Mother India, Lagaan are highly respected and viewed by Movie viewers of many countries. I myself view many classic non Telugu movies even though I do not know the language of those movies in a state like AP. A good movie is always appreciated irrespective of the language.

Weare always seeking recognition from these countries and in turn watch their mediocre movies also and feel elated. Who can help us? No one can help us for we ourselves need to change our attitude of seeking gratification and recognition from foreign sources. But it is the truth that even foreign audiences wish to see good movies with quality content from India, I am not sure about other countries but the people in UK, actually watch good Indian movies, they are really enamoured and fascinated with India, and wish to see quality content. So if we can give them such via the Oscars, where is the harm?

The question is surely not one of how a sovereign state exercises its sovereign powers but our troubled ties with this nation.India's problems with its small neighbors stems from their discomfort and a sense of jealousy in India's rising status. Added to this phenomenon is the Chinese expansionist designs to use them to torment and nettle India in every possible manner. Thus developments in this nations call for a deeper insight to study their ramifications It definitely poses a formidable challenge to our foreign policy makers.

Personally I feel that we need to understand and slowly wean our children to be independent rather than do it forcefully. We should also remember that we have a few years of total togetherness with our children and the more we enjoy it the better because you have those memories to look back on..I used to spoil my children but also have long discussions with them when we went walking and on holidays. I also used to get lot of advise from friends and close relatives on how to bring up my children but I felt that I have to bring up my children the way I wanted and depending on my own intuition as to what is right and good for them rather than listen to advise that may not be suitable for us !
