No one can help us for we ourselves need to change our attitude of seeking gratification and recognition from foreign sources. But it is the truth that even foreign audiences wish to see good movies with quality content from India, I am not sure about other countries but the people in UK, actually watch good Indian movies, they are really enamoured and fascinated with India, and wish to see quality content. So if we can give them such via the Oscars, where is the harm? We can give them many movies outside Oscars, why restrict them to only one movie via the Oscars. There are many platforms to exhibit Indian movies ,like IMFI, International Movie festival of India, where lot of international movie makers can witness our movies. But Oscar has its own greatness.

If we are able to detect such cars in India will the Indian govt impose heavy fines and punishments. Who has been punished or fined in the Maggie noodles issue? Already the company has started releasing advts to create a positive image of itself before launching the product again into the markets,

We see the same types everywhere in government and bureaucratic positions, of course there are few exceptions but most of them join the game quickly once they start getting these extra perks. A family friend was working in the Indian embassy of Japan and was in charge of cultural portfolio. Without exception, ALL the visiting Indian dignitaries and their entourage used to behave in such a weird manner, such as  demanding extra attention, shopping expensive items and gifts at the cost of the embassy, making the staff of the embassy run to and fro for petty things etc. without thinking of the image they created of themselves and their country on foreign soil. So I think this particular habit has infiltrated Indian genes so instead of making them change, we should declare cribbing as national sport and make the best of the situation.

What else a commoner can or will do but cribbing ? Such cases of using the public money has become a daily affair. They no more attract a common man's attention.

Volkswagen admitted that they used Apps for tricking the emission test. Switzerland has temporarily halted VW diesel engine models. VW the biggest car maker in the world stooped down to cheat the people.

There was a time when we prided ourselves for being a liberal society. Today there seems to be a race to turn India into an illiberal society. It is shameful and frightening that intellectuals are being hounded and killed. What is difference between our country and say Bangladesh ? It is also frightening to see well off people support such activities.

@Usha writes that a mistake has been made. This is not true. It was done deliberately to attain a higher mileage because meeting pollution norms would divert part power for absorbing pollutants in catalytic chambers and cause fall in mileage. It was misuse of technology and software was turned into malware. Germans  are very good at engineering and their automobiles are very good but when they want they can also cheat like other nationalities. The company will be fined very heavily and usually no one gets punished. Already the German CEO has resigned and has got a severance pay of $32 million plus further millions are in pipeline as retirement benefits. It is not at all a mistake!

Perhaps the leaders of India and Pakistan are above suggestions with regards to Kashmir dispute.

One such example is Y.S Jagan Mohan Reddy son of late Y. Rajasekhara Reddy erstwhile CM of AP. He has plundered the state and gave it to son  Jagan Mohan Reddy. But he was caught by the CBI. He is the NO1 accused in 14 cases of the biggest Financial scams in AP. Now he is on bail. It's not all, Jagan is the opposition leader in the AP assembly. And he has a great fan following.. These are our political leaders and these are our People.
