Every human activity should be conducted in a purposeful manner. Education is aimed at preparing for successful life. Education is nothing but preparing future citizens of the nations. Education needs to contain all aspects necessary to prepare boys and girls for making them good and responsible nationals. Hence, all aspects of human activities need be included in education. Sex is undoubtedly one aspect that everybody encounters in life. A good and orderly sex life and decent sex/ gender behavior and attitude can be developed by better schooling. The students need be taught that sex is an important part of not only human but also all animals. The entire living population owes its existence to sex. The instances of rape, indecent sexual behavior and gender discrimination can be checked by proper sex education. Ideally, sex education should begin at class sixth. The educations can design the syllabus and draft the education material in a non offensive manner. The teachers also need to be trained for the purpose. Sex is not less important than eating and drinking. Just as we need health dietary habits, similarly sex. Sex is no more taboo.

Talking of statistics,
Have a look on polling done on Boddunan, 17 people voted, 64.7% Boddunan members feel the need of sex education in India.

This shows that most people are aware of what is going wrong in this country & feel the need of change in order to educate the students about sex.

so there must be sex education.

With a teen pregnancy rate that is nearly twice the rate of that in other developed countries, many parents rightfully worry what can be done. Interestingly, despite a recent government push for abstinence only sex education is schools, teen pregnancy statistics, and teen sex statistics remain in line with trends.
As a result, 80 percent of parents think that contraception and protective practices (such as condom use) should be taught as part of a comprehensive sex education course.

The teen sex stats that we see today should serve as a reminder that teenagers need to be guided. They need education and knowledge of what's available in order to help combat teen pregnancy and STDs. Teenagers should understand that there are physical, psychological and emotional effects that come with sex. They should also be taught that the choices they make now can affect them later in life. But this teaching should not be done with fear.

Friends,
The sex education is compulsory in India. But it should not be just to inform about the use of condoms, how to practice safe sex before marriage etc.Education is for culturing the man.He/she should become a pearl after getting education.Instead if he is doing wrong things on account his education that education is good for nothing. So in my view this sex education should be imparted with emphasise on moral side.

Good morning to all,
The topic is becoming hot.During my BEd studies also we had to study about imparting sex education in schools. The reason for imparting sex education was not for safe sex but for the wellbeing of society.Only a sex educated society can see its members as a human.Only such persons can control his sudden emotions.Only those can behave well to opposite sex .The present sexual harrasments , sexual crimes and other bad news coming out are due to the lack of this sex education.

Topic is indeed becoming hot on Forum I think this GD has more replies then any othe one.
Yaa, you are absolutely right that the purpose of sex ed is not merely telling about safe sex but its about telling youths in advance what is right and what is wrong for them.
Perhaps treating teenagers as adults, with respect for their intelligence and decision making ability can help where other methods have so far failed to stem the tide of teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases and this can only be imparted through inculcating a good knowledge in them.

Yes as Lubna said many of us had the false thought that sex education is describing safe sex.Actually throgh sex education means making the child aware of the changes occuring in him as he ages.If not properly made aware he/she may feel that something is going wrong in his/her body.Being not able to discuss this wrong thing with others he/she will keep silence. It may lead to severe mentel problems also.

So at each stage of his/her development he/she should be made aware of the physiological changes taking place in body.Actually a biology teacher can handle this topic very nicely. But the psychological aspects regarding the feelings, thoughts and dreams during this period should be dealt by a person qualified in it .
