There could be many reasons including the spread of awareness , at least in some parts of the country. We had an amusing incident here when a boy's father demanded dowry the day before the wedding and the girls parents tried to reason out but the boy and his father were both adamant . Later the girl and her friends went to the boys house and beat up both the father and son with their slippers and called the police...now a case is pending against them!

Ya if all the girls turns out to be brave and protest against it, then there is nothing called dowry.

A change in the awareness in a women is half job done. The remaining half is, a sea change in the attitude of the parents. Meaningless words like ,"Family honour' and 'Tradition' should be removed from the scenario.
